But Aspen reminds him of the rebellious life he used to live and is making it difficult to resist sinful temptations. Though Dante is committed to living clean for his girlfriend Charlie, this dude’s been a playboy for far too long…and old demons die hard. With Charlie becoming the girl she was never able to be pre-makeover and Aspen showing him how delicious it feels to embrace his inner beast, Dante will have to go somewhere he never thought he’d return to in order to accomplish the impossible: save the girl he’s been assigned to, and keep the girl he loves.
(First of all, the layout , images and everything in this postthis might be off, I apologize for that as I STILL don't have access to my laptop and have to do this on this bloody phone. Argh.)
Victoria Scott (who is without a doubt one of my favorite author EVER, and seriously one of the coolest) blew me away with her awesomesauce debut YA The Collector and made me fall in love with all of her characters, especially cocky Dante and sweet Charlie. Even the side characters all have a place in my cold, cold heart. So excited was an understatement when I got an e-arc of The Liberator ! I literally dropped everything (even the book I was reading at a time because hello, you just can't make Dante wait. Nah. That's not how it works. And after I devoured The Liberator and screamed at that last cruel line, I just wanna hug the author for writing a spectacular, worthy sequel that put Dante Walker series into my permanent fav series list.
Dante Walker is seriously one of the most unique male protagonists out there. The guy is just so hilarious and his humorous narration is probably one of the highlights of this series. Also, Dante has also grown a lot and can I just say I LOVE the scenes where Dante gets jealous, insecure and whatnot. I love how deeply he cares for Charlie. And Dante's lines is the best! One of the swooniest and heartfelt lines out there that I had to stop reading for five minutes just so I can read it over and over again.
While in this sequel I love Dante even more, Charlie just kinda felt meh for me. Don't get me wrong, I still like her a lot and think she's such an awesome character who has gone through the most development, but what made me love her in The Collector was just NOT there in this book. I didn't like how she changed (maybe I'm the only one but) and I just preferred her in the first book. *shrugs*
The plot gets even more intense, more action, there's definitely a lot more romance ;) and the pieces and answers starts coming together to form the bigger picture. All I have to say in terms of the story - BRAVO. We also got a few suprises (eep! a certain character!!) and revelations that in a million years I would never have guessed. I can't effing wait to read about what happens next and if you haven't started this series yet, please just do so now. It's one of the few YA paranormal romances that is just epic.
