Red-hot author Miranda Kenneally hits one out of the park in this return to Catching Jordan's Hundred Oaks High.

After a scandal rocks their conservative small town, 17-year-old Parker Shelton goes overboard trying to prove that she won't turn out like her mother: a lesbian. The all-star third-baseman quits the softball team, drops 20 pounds and starts making out with guys--a lot. But hitting on the hot new assistant baseball coach might be taking it a step too far...especially when he starts flirting back.

Since I read Miranda's first book last year, Catching Jordan and devoured it, I knew that I'm going to read anything by this author. She can write the most realistic and fun contemporaries out there and she never fails to make me fall in love with her believable characters. And after I learned that she's got a book coming out this year, I KNEW I had to read it. And then I read the blurb to Stealing Parker and was like 'Isn't this awesome?!?'. Let me tell you guys that after reading this, I can say that this is DEFINITELY AWESOME.

Our main character Parker is kind of a mess. There were some things that she did in the book that I thought were extremely stupid, and I kinda wanted to bitch slap her for it. BUT. She's also got some very redeeming good qualities about her. At the end of the day, she's just a normal teenage girl.

I HATED HATED HATED Brian. Argh. He's such an asshole. I hated him from the beginning, wanted to kill him myself in the end. I've got a lot of things I want to say to him, but can't say it here, if ya know what I mean. I didn't really like anything about him to be honest. And there was this scene which I thought  Parker really shouldn't have done that.

I never thought I could fell in love with a guy called Corndog. Seriously, this guy is amazing. There's like no words to describe him. And I loved that their relationship started out as them kinda hating each other, then trying to be friends, to something more special. It made me all sorts of happy.

The rest of the characters were fun, real and captivating. I admire Miranda's ability to write such flawed characters, but ones that we can't help but love and root for. I really felt sorry for her mum, but I understand why things happened the way they did. Overall, I was really really pleased with the ending. I don't think we could get a better ending than that. It was realistic and fulfilling.

There was a lot of themes in this book. Religion, sex, dating older guys etc. I personally didn't mind it, but I think some people will be quite turned off by the religion part. I think it turned a bit preachy for me, but nothing that I was really bothered about. It really depends on the reader.

I loved the plot and of course, her writing. Miranda's writing is SO frigging amazing that you just can't let go of the book. You just can't stop reading. It's so addictive. I read this in one sitting and I was so bummed when I was finished. He he. :)

Guys, if you haven't read Miranda's book CATCHING JORDAN (out last year), do it now. THEN you should buy STEALING PARKER straight after. Trust me, it's even better. :D

(Also my September book of the month.)
